TINUBU NOT IN ANY HURRY TO SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS –KACHIKWU

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the last general election, Dumebi kachikwu has disclosed that the present federal government’s inactions and counter-productive policies in some areas are pointers to the fact that President Tinubu seems not to be in any hurry to solve Nigeria’s problems. He disclosed this while featuring on a TV political magazine program on Monday 17th July, 2023.

President Bola ahmed Tinubu

One of the reasons for this view is the fact that the ministerial appointment list of the president is yet to be ready.  “His cabinet list should have been ready in six weeks”.  He declared.

He also decried the subsidy removal as contained in the president’s inaugural speech on May 29th 2023 despite the fact that he campaigned for the same.  This is because President Tinubu did not put any measure in place to cushion the effects of the removal on Nigerians. People should not suffer to massage the process of the subsidy removal.  He further criticized the plan by the Federal Government to transfer N8,000 to 12 million poor households in Nigeria for a period of six months.  The plan as contained in a letter the President wrote to the House of Representatives earlier this week is to have a multiplier effects on 60 million individuals.  According to the letter, for credibility, the President declared the money will be transferred to the households digitally.  Kachikwu declared this will not translate to anything much for Nigerians.  “… the government’s plan to send money to the lower Nigerians, N8,000 to 12 million will not do anything”.

However, he commended the government’s new exchange rate, but still declared that the new exchange rate has brought about inflation. In his words, “The government fights inflation which they benefit from”.
