THE ACE FILMAKER AND THEATRE ARTISTE, YEMI REMI SHOOTS FILMS TO ADDRESS CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY CHALLENGES
Yemi Remi shoots two filmu to address contemporary issues

The ace filmmaker and multi-talented Theatre Artiste, Yemi Remi has again established the fact that arts is a veritable tool and medium for mirroring and addressing the societal challenges as he shoots two films simultaneously to address the contemporary issues in our society.
The film location that engaged relatively large number of cast and crew was at the far away border town of Igan Alade in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The two films “My Virginity, my Pride” and “The Pledge” according to the ace filmmaker are to correct some ills in our society. “The first film is to address the high level of promiscuity and immoralities especially, among the young ones”.
According to him, “It is also to put in the right perspective the issue and status of virginity among the young ladies”.
The issue and status of virginity is in this age a subject of controversy and derision. While virginity was thing of pride and cherished deeply by every society throughout Africa and in Yoruba land especially in the days of our fore-fathers, it has become a status derided by this generation and is seen as obtuse and archaic.

Meanwhile, virginity was what was used as a tool to instill in the societies chastity in those days and to reduce to the barest minimum the issue of immorality, especially, among the young ones. This helped to build strong bases for marriages and families in those days. Since family is the atom with which the societies are made of, there were better, stronger and happier societies in those days.
But now, reverse is the case. Everybody, especially, the young ones have thrown caution to the wind. We have enthroned diverse acts of immoralities in our societies and have enshrined disgusting immoral behaviours. The reason we have these different disturbing and life-threatening anti-social order activities in the societies.

The second film is based on the issue of loyalty to one’s land, society and country. Our society now is filled with people who have nothing to offer the society but used their influence to emerge in positions of authority aided by corrupt people. When this class of people becomes leaders, things most times go wrong in the society and affect everyone. Except the society does the needful, it will continue to “enjoy” the pangs of the self-inflicted pain. Hence, the film is a call to all of us to enthrone merit and eschew favouritism, tribalism and religious sentiments in the process of choosing leaders.

The two films which has renowned actors on its cast list and which was co-directed by Kehinde Remi (Kanran), a brother and another ace filmaker are going to be shown on multiple channels on DSTV and GOTV cable network will come out soon. Watch out!

  1. Virginity brings pride to every parents as in the family and a good nation is from a good family. Also, every virgin discovered is a strenght to the mother and is godliness. Our children keep to virginity – male child girl child. It is goodly and godly heritage.
