The crisis in Rivers state is far from being over as there have been events that continue to signal that peace is still far away. The most recent signal is the parallel sittings by the two divisions of the Assembly on Tuesday21stNovember, 2023. One faction was led by the speaker Mathew Amaewhule while the other sitting was led by Edison Ehie, as another speaker.

While the 25 Pro-Wike Assembly members held a plenary session in the fire-gutted Assembly complex, report filtering in has shown that members of the Rivers State House Assembly who are loyal to Governor Fubara gathered on Tuesday 21st November also held a sitting where they showed their unwavering support to the embattled Governor as they reportedly pass a vote of confidence on him.

The Edison Ehie-led group reportedly passed a vote of confidence on the governor, according to a statement from Ken Uchendu, another self-acclaimed Legislative Correspondent who no doubt is loyal to the Fubara-Ehi group.

Before the vote of confidence, Uchendu said the lawmakers commended the governor on his developmental strides and security initiatives. His statement added that
"The Pro-Fubara lawmakers resolved to continuously give the governor the required support to accomplish his consolidation and continuity agenda.

"They condemned the attack on Ehie’s residence and the 29 October burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly. They asked security agencies to investigate the attacks just as they appealed to Governor Fubara to rehabilitate the assembly complex.

While Pro-Wike Assembly members sat inside the complex, it could not be ascertained where the Pro-Fubara sat.
