Tragedy strucked at Ahmadiyyah area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on the early morning of Monday 4th December, 2023 as a fatal road accident that occurred had left a tricycle rider in a very terrible condition which people fear he may not survive from as a result of life threatening injury sustained from a head-on collision with a speeding car.

Eye witnesses told our Correspondent that the accident which involved the tricycle, a Toyota Yaris Saloon car and a truck suspected to be carrying gas was caused by a cart pusher. They also blamed the accident on bad situation of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, as well as over speeding. The witnesses explained that the Toyota Yaris car was trying to overtake the truck while the tricycle was coming from the opposite direction, on a one way. But unfortunately, as at the time the car was trying to maneuvered the space to avoid the tricycle, an Hausa cart pusher was trying to claim the road with the tricycle giving the rider no space to avoid the car overtaking the truck from the opposite direction. Therefore, the car collided with the tricycle and also got hit by the truck it was trying to overtake. The cart pusher was reported to run away immediately the accident happened.

The impact of the collision on the tricycle was so high to the extent that it took great efforts before people who had rushed to the scene could bring the rider out of his now Compressed tricycle. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital as he had sustained life threatening injuries.

Those who spoke with our correspondent regretted the state of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway which has caused a lot of accidents which sometimes claim lives. They therefore appeal to both Lagos and Ogun State Government, as well as the Federal Government to help fix the road to avoid tragedies like this.
