SLAIN RIVERS DPO: PROSECUTING LAWYER URGES COURT TO STOP TRIAL

The prosecuting lawyer in the case of the Rivers slain DPO, Barrister C. F. Amadi, has argued that the ongoing trial should be discontinued.

Barrister Amadi tendered his argument during the last court session in the state High Court which was to consider additional bail applications of the defendats in the case. Why arguing against the bail applications for the accussed and defendants in the case which include former Ahoada LG, Cassidy Ikegbidi, a Monarch, Ngozi Onugwo and five others, Amadi emphasized that since the police are still investigating the matter, the court trial should be halted immediately.

It will be recalled that the former Ahoada council boss and Ngozi Onugwo were earlier granted bail by court on health grounds.

However, in the recent ruling, the Rivers State High Court has adjourned the case to January 12th for consideration of more bail applications and February 2nd for a substantial trial in the murder case for the late Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada East Division, SP Bako Angbashim.
