Men of police force slugged it out with ROAD UNION WORKERS

Some workers of the Tricycle unit of of Road Transport Union Workers known as TROAN have clashed with some members of the police force who were riding a motorcycle on one-way along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The incident which occurred around eleven o'clock in the morning of Monday 18th December, 2023 has drawn wide criticism from the people of Ahmadiyyah area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to eye witnesses, an accident had already occurred earlier the same day involving a one-way Tricycle rider knocking down a young boy crossing the road. This according to the eye witnesses prompted the TROAN executives controlling the Ahmadiyyah area to detailed some of their men to turn back all one-way riders. Our correspondent was told that all one-way riders were turned back, even, including some men of the Nigerian army who were also riding a motorcycle on one-way along the road.

However, when the TROAN staff attempted to turn the police officers back, they came down from their bike and descended on the men who had asked them to turn back.
The scoff was on as at the time our correspondent arrived the scene and all attempts to stop the fight and speak with the police men were abortive as they slugged it out completely with the TROAN staff throwing all their sense of professionalism and caution to the wind.

Meanwhile, not long after, some other police officers in a commercial bus arrived the scene and whisked the TROAN men away without answering questions on which station they came from and whereto. The bus left amidst loud shoutsof protest from the people in the area.

It will be recalled that an accident in the same area which involved a truck, a car and a one-way riding Tricycle was reported about two weeks ago. The bad state of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway which make commuters to drive on one-way has reportedly caused many accidents in the main time.

Our Correspondent is on the trail of the issue and details will be reported as soon as they are available.
