Honourable Abass Tajudeen, the Speaker of the house of representatives yesterday remarked that despite the last-minute disappointment of the Super Eagles campaign in the just concluded AFCON, the team had done well and so deserves to be commended.

It will be recalled that the leader of the Nigeria's Green Chamber was part of Nigeria's official delegation led by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima to boost Super Eagle's morale for the final match against the host nation.

Others in the delegation was the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Radda, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, the President of African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.
Unfortunately, the Super Eagles lost to the host nation in the final. But despite the loss, the house of Reps speaker, Tajudeen Abass says the Green Chamber is proud of them and their performance so far. according to him, "we are proud of our team. They proved their mettle in the competition. We will continue to support them the best we can.


In the same vein, the spokesman for the House of Reps, honourable Akin Rotimi in a statement on Monday, said that "The green chambers celebrates the entire players and coaching crew for their spirited display in Ivory Coast. The House of Representatives is congratulating the Super Eagles of Nigeria for clinching the silver prize at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, for the fifth time.
He said that the lawmakers are particularly delighted by the performance of the team’s captain, William Ekong for emerging ‘Man of the Competition’.
He concluded by sying 'the Super Eagles, based on their performance at the tournament, deserved victory but narrowly lost the AFCON trophy.
