Lawal Adeyemi Quadri fondly addressed by his satege name Skaliey Mental is not unknown to music lovers in Nigeria across the years. His brand of music has grown like wildfire to the extent of capturing attention nation wide. In this concluding part of the interview session held in the presence of Artists Media and Publicity Manager Quadri Rasheed Atanda, Skaliey Mental discussed issues relating to his music career and what he has been up to in recent times, while also providing insight on what music lovers and the music industry should expect from him as time goes by.

Skaliey, can you please tell us what brand or genre of music that you are into?

I do a various brands of music. However, I tilt more towards afrohip and apala vibes. Those are the consistent areas I focus my style and brand of music on.

So, what have you been up to recently in terms of music production?

In 2023, I produced music singles such as Ema jenyelo, Oori, Gbanapiano, Champion and Sambele and I was also active with stage music performances

Can you elaborate more on your 2023 stage music performances?

In 2023, I performed on stage fifty times with 24 performances in December alone. My performances cut across various areas from being invited to perform at events and celebrations such as birthdays,to performances at hospitality and recreational outlets,yatch parties and so on. So it was a mixed experience of music performances across Lagos state and also outside Lagos state.

How did year 2024 kick off for you in terms of your music career and patronage?

2024 started on a good note as I had my first music performance on January 3rd taggeded “Let’s meet with Skaliey Mental". Thereafter,I had my second music performance tagged,”Omo Ologo Season 3 on January 13th. In addition, I have released the following singles in 2024 namely: Konisewu, Apalapiano, Apala Physics, Aseyori and Apala classic. All On God. These singles including the ones I released last year and my past music singles are available on all digital platforms for streaming and downloading.

Obviously,you have been very active on the local scene. What are your plans for international music performances?

International music performances are not strange to me, having performed in Cairo, Egypt’s capital in 2011 and 2022, and South Africa in 2014 and 2016. So I was still active on the international music scene in 2022. I am allowing my charity to commence from the homefront. However, there are plans already in the pipeline for me to perform in Europe or North America. But I keep that close to my chest,when the time is ripe,it will definitely materialize,for now,I focus on giving my people at home the best as an original home boy(laughs).I will soon be in Tripoli,Libya and United Kingdom to perform.

We look forward to your coming performances in Libya and United Kingdom in Europe. You seem to have some degree of patriotism in you,don’t you?

Why not?It is said that,it is the bastard child that uses his left hand to describe his father’s house according to a Yoruba proverb,I am a Nigerian born and bred in Nigeria. I have no where else to call home aside Nigeria. After my past international music performances,I returned to Nigeria,Nigeria can never be relegated to the background in my music career. So if I proceed to the international scene again,I will use my music to brand Nigeria in positive terms.
