To prove wrong the impression given to members of the public by the Nigerian military that it is winning the terror war, the Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād which is a faction of the Boko Haram believed to be backed by ISWAP has released pictures which shows the group publicly engaging the people in a borno village which falls within the Lake Chad area in Borno State.

According to reports, the group which broke away from the Abubakar Shekau-led Boko Haram faction in 2016 had continued to grow with its strategic ways of recruiting members, some of which includes distributing welfare materials to the people giving the impression that it is capable of providing the essential needs for the people if the group succeeds in seizing power.

It will be recalled that the main objective of this particular group is to create a separate Islamic state. In their quest to achieve their aims, they have reportedly been organizing public Da‘wāt which is the act of inviting or calling people to embrace Islam.

In the pictures recently released by ISWAP, sect members were seen publicly engaging with residents of the state around the Lake Chad area.

These images are believed by stakeholders to be part of the sect’s efforts to counter statements by the Nigerian military that the Islamist insurgent fighters were on a steady retreat, with troops seizing a sizeable territory hitherto occupied and controlled by members of the terrorist sect.

It was reported that during the Da'wat, insurgents allure the villagers to join in their cause to establish an Islamic caliphate.
The released pictures of the public engagement of the proscribed group with members of the public no doubt points to the fact that, the terror war is far from been won.
