COMEDY AS TWO OF THE 27 DEFECTED RIVERS LAWMAKERS RUN BACK TO PDP

In what looks children playing hide and seek games, two of the 27 lawmakers who defected to the APC on Monday have returned to the PDP. The two lawmakers, who were pro-Wike announced their u-turn decision just few days after they defected with other anti-Fubara faction from PDP to APC.

According to the two lawmakers, onye Adoki, representing Port Harcourt Constituency two, and Linda Somiari Stewart representing Okrika Constituency, some other defected lawmakers are reconsidering their defection. The two lawmakers have apologised to Rivers state Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

Confirming the development, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joseph Johnson, affirmed there are more defected members jostling to return.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Edison Ehie-led Rivers State House of Assembly has declared the seats of the defected lawmakers vacant over their defection from the PDP to the APC.
Mr Ehie, who leads a five-member group loyal to Governor Fubara made this known yesterday during a plenary they held at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The Member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, Adolphus Timothy Oru-bie-nimigha, was elected during the sitting as the Leader of the Edison Ehie-led lawmakers.

Edison Ehie, the Factional leader of the Pro Fubara Rivers State Assembly

During the plenary, Governor Fubara presented the 2024 budget to the Ehie-led Rivers State House of Assembly.

The state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, presented the 2024 budget during the sitting. Governor Fubara reassured Rivers people of his commitment to the overall development of the state. It followed the demolition of the Assembly Complex yesterday.

However, it is most likely that the reversed action of the defected lawmakers was not unconnected to the victimisation from Governor Fubara. In the hot Rivers political game, Fubara had ordered the demolition of the half burnt Assembly complex. This action has left the other Assembly faction stranded as there is no place that will be within the established law to hold Assembly sessions. Another act of victimisation that might have forced the defected members to run back is the state-backed pronouncement by Edison Ehie declaring the seats of the 27 defected lawmakers vacant.

More dramas and Comic acts are expected in Rivers State except the ongoing political crises in the state which has the two titans in the state, Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara are brought under control.
